SEPTEMBER 2.-9. 2015

Join main B.Yoga Basel teachers Daniela Fuentes (Jivamukti Yoga)  & Amrta Borok (Vinyasa Yoga) for a yoga immersion week set in a wonderful hidden jewel place, in the middle of nowhere, where south-western Europe sinks into the Atlantic. This yoga holiday will certainly restore your senses and relieve them from a stressful lifestyle, over use of technology and high paced routines. As the days pass, you will experience less mental noise, more intuitive clarity and a connect with your sense of natural inner happiness reflected outside.

During this week we will dive into Yoga exploring and deepening the understanding of this practice through steady regular Asana (Yoga Poses) practice, Kriyas (cleaning practices), Pranayama (breath exercises) and Meditation. Carrapateira will offer you a beautiful set up to reflect and let the Yoga sink deeper into your inner realms.  You will have the space to start, explore or deepen your yoga practice according to your particular level as well as understand it from a technical, theoric and philosophic perspective. All levels of practice are welcome and no previous experience is needed.

This Yoga Immersion Holiday will renew and clean up the physical body as well as purify the energetic body of fear, doubt and the reminiscences of a life submerged into extreme rationality, competition and stress.

“This eco hotel set in Vicentin Natural Park couldn’t be a more perfect retreat for those who want to be at one with nature. With many different mind and body therapies, from yoga to reflexology, and outdoor activities on the beach and in the park, this is an eco warrior’s dream”-HOTELGURU.COM

_MG_2046 Bordeira Beach 1Carrapateira is a region enriched by the strength of its’ nature, where the high cliffs overlook the ocean, filling the air with a fresh breeze, spreading myths and tales of fishermen, sailors and pirates, sunken ships and great fisheries.

There is something about Carrapateira’s strong beauty that guides us to surrender and discover again our inner capacity of joy through simplicity.  The dense energy that originates from the storms in the ocean, concentrates in the beautiful waves that break on the sweeping sandy coast. Additionally there is a vast and unexplored area where several species live as well. Bearer of magical aromas, the different plants, many of which therapeutic, guide us through the multiple paths some ending between dunes of fine sand by the ocean, while others on the cliffs by sunset.

From the top of the “Monte”, we become consciousness of the vast natural space around us, the strength of the elements in the region and the overwhelming beauty of one of the most, or perhaps last, secret places in the world. The Ocean, the trees and hills, the animals and humans, one vision that puts us in the very center of the continuous beautiful and mighty universal cycles. Once a rural tourism center, Monte Velho has grown into its true essence and purpose as an Eco Retreat Center. A space to appreciate and bring to life the natural beauty of the environment and a chance to have a real and empowering experience, our connection to our roots and a way to discover our true nature. -M.V.

The main house is powered with solar energy batteries and an eolic windmill. The hot water system uses the sun as well, and a wood boiler which helps to heat all the buildings. The wood used on the boiler is from our own forest, and is harvested in a sustainable way.

Monte Velho started with a reforestation project of  umbrella pine trees, cork and strawberry trees which were planted in 1997. Before that, the land had been abandoned and wild for more then 20 years, it was infested by acacias and eucalyptus trees, the soil was very poor with lots of stones and little water.  A lake to collect the rainwater was the first step to revitalise the land. During the machine digging process to create the lake, the obtained clay and agile was used to built the main walls of Monte Velho.

After two winters the lake was almost full of water and the wildlife–birds singing again, frogs croaking, rabbits, foxes, wild boars and other species–began to return to the land. Nowadays the water of the lake is also used to water the permaculture garden during the summer months and for the horses.

The vegetable garden grows every season, and more fruit trees are being planted on the same area.Permaculture gives Monte Velho the chance to grow different vegetables all year round and supply the kitchen with delicious food.

The 34 hectares are mostly cover with umbrella pine trees, which produce delicious pine nuts. The trees are now 15 years old, and the last years we have had a good harvests, during the winter time , collecting up to 3.000 kilos of pine cones. Pruning the trees every year gives us lots of wood to use on our boiler, to give us hot water and heating.

The holistic center is designed to offer all the comfort and space needed for different practices. The main temple “Casa das Pinhas” is made with a round wood architecture and heated floor. It is inspired in a holistic center located at the Brazilian rainforest. In this temple is where the main yoga activities happen, comfortably inside and surrounded by nature.

Between activities one can relax or study in a variety of calm and peaceful spaces that are placed for the purpose of joy and contemplation, all with amazing views to the surroundings. The rooms are cozy with simple decoration and all that is needed for letting go and surrendering to the space of being taken care of, as you walk out the door, may be the sun light or the magical sky stars salute you.

The main house its composed by:

– A common living room with 75m2

– An interior dining room with a capacity of 25 – 35 seats.

– An exterior breakfast veranda with capacity for 32 seats.

“I am finding the introspective nature of yoga both nurturing and liberating. It will most certainly be forming a part of my life again. Having spent the week in the company of like-minded people, having been exposed to new concepts, having been open to exchanges of views and ideas and having had the opportunity to digest, reflect and wonder, I can honestly say that I have benefited immensely from the retreat.”  j.

Daniela’s classes are a mix of chants, philosophical-thought-provoking inputs with day-to-day examples spiced with her crafty-Latin humor, sound & breath awereness, body-intelligent flowy asana (yoga poses) sequences, hands-on assist through which you receive tremendous loads loving wisdom cultivated through her many years of practice and teaching, meditation & relaxation.

Daniela provides the fire to fuel any practice and just being in her presence offers transformation physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.  She began practicing Yoga at the age of 17 and after 15 years of practice and many different phases, Yoga practice has become a tool in her life that plays a very important role in her perspectives, relationships and creative work. She thinks people live fully when they don’t limit themselves to inhabit only one aspect of their lives but as many as possible and she nourishes her yoga teachings with many sources.

About Amrta

As a child I was lucky enough to have a first hand experience to yoga, through my father who was an advanced practitioner on a daily basis. I was very eager to sit in Lotus pose and look at the pictures in his yoga books already in my early childhood years. This striving and attachment to India remained and magnified so far that when I was 19 and lived in Vienna I decided to join a Bhakti Yoga Ashram at the Center for Vedic Studies in Vienna where I could immerse myself and study Yoga, Meditation, Sanskrit, Indian classical music, traditional ancient Indian philosophy and even ayurvedic culinary art, to learn and experience more about the ancient Vedic yoga heritage.

The following years I traveled to numerous Ashrams in Europe and India where I was holding seminars on Vedic culture with Meditation, Kirtan singing, cooking courses and discussions on Bhakti yoga for different groups of people. In 2005 I decided to concentrate more on my Asana practice keeping the philosophy and the theories more in the background. So I started to practice with teachers like Joel Pier, Bikram Yoga Philadelphia, to expend my vision and understanding of Yogasana. In between – as a dedicated vegetarian – I worked and managed a couple of Ayurvedic restaurants in the US, Hungary and just recently in Sweden. Then in 2010 I came down with the decision to put my full attention to teaching Yoga and sharing what I’ve learned over the years.

In 2011 I finished the 200 hrs. Teachers Training Course in Atma Vikasa, Center in Yogic Sciences, Mysore, and changed my home base from Malmo, Sweden to Basel. Yoga became for me more than “a hobby”, it is a way to lead my life that enables me to be much more balanced and concentrated in my daily life. It connects me to others in an deeper more intimate way and as I grow in it it makes me feel to be a much more valuable part of the „whole picture“.
